During a small gathering of friends I was introduced to someone new. I later found out that he works in the same industry that I do. He asked me a question that I have been thinking about for the last 2 days.
“What sector do you like to work in?”
After being a full time production manager and lighting designer for a company for 15 years and now having to shift back into the freelance world, I never thought about what sector I like working in. We all have the clients we enjoy working with over others, the gigs that make us happier than others, but which sector do you prefer to work in? What sector makes you the happiest?
What a divine way to think about it.
I never thought it was even possible to simply work in the sectors of the industry that I like and feel passionate about. To me this was a huge revelation! What a tremendous difference this would make for the outcome of your work and the outcome of your client’s project or product.
Now the big question is how to make the shift from working as an independent contractor in myriad industries to streamlining my clientele to the sectors I want to work in?

With ISPA officially underway, it makes the last two long days of load in well worth it. What a beautiful set for a beautiful show.

Heading back to Las Vegas to work with a long standing client that is more of a friend now than a client. Miss working with the M2 Onstage boys and looking forward to the week ahead.

Live Design 2011 seemed a little slow this year. A few new LED products on the market but nothing ground breaking like we have seen over the past few years.
It was good to see some old friends in the industry and meet a few new ones.

The Learning Curve continues. It has been a pain learning how to make this website work, and work the way I want it to. And I have enjoyed every minute of it.

For about a month now I have been trying to learn more about my own site and WordPress. I am trying to create a Photography 365. I have not had much luck on the creation of the blog, however it has not kept me from shooting. I didn’t have my camera with more today. But for some reason I always forget I have a camera in my pocket no matter where I go, my iPhone.
It was a quiet Sunday today in Las Vegas at the convention center. I snapped this photo after leaving the venue heading back to my hotel. Something about seeing all these machines, lined up and ready to head off to work, sparked something for me and I had to take a few shoots.
Enjoy!

Ready for Work

I had no idea that adding a sub group into my blog for the Photography 365 would be so hard. Bear with me while I get through the learning curve.

With a lot of new changes in my life, and some new awesome influences, I wanted to move one of my arts to the front burner. So with a little help of the love of my life, I wanted to begin a “Photography 365″ on my birthday this year. Well, for my birthday, I was asked to fly to New Orleans to help bail out a show that goes live Friday afternoon. So a lot of birthday fun and wishes have been postponed.
More to come soon.
